Step-by-Step
1
First, you’ll insert H-Stakes into all of letters and stars..
2
Next, you’ll flat lay the parts where you want to build..
3
Finally, you’ll install letters in the ground and add the stars.
Start with the first letter in the LARGE group, the PINK letter H for HAPPY. This requires a LARGE H-Stake.
Position the H-Stake so the crossbar faces down and away from the printed side of the plastic.
Locate the small grey lines at the base of this PINK letter “H”.
Insert the H-Stake posts into the plastic until the crossbar is 1” from the bottom of the letter.
H-Stakes should slide easily into the plastic flutes. If it’s not sliding easily, try a different flute hole on one side or the other of the grey line.
Your finished letter should look like this. Now move on to the next letter in the LARGE group.
Insert stakes into all LARGE and SMALL letters. Your complete set should look like this:
There are two “Y” shapes. In the TOP LEFT CORNERS you’ll see one is DARK and one is LIGHT. You’ll use the DARK Y for “HAPPY”.
Remove the H-STAKE from the DARK Y and replace it with TWO STRAIGHT STAKES. The LEFT STRAIGHT STAKE is only inserted 3” into the DARK Y.
PLASTIC RODS connect the STARS with the LETTERS. Two sizes are included: LONG and SHORT. These rods can be a little tight to insert and we recommend you USE A FLAT SURFACE and a ‘screwing’ motion for the rods.
ON A FLAT SURFACE, use a screwing motion to screw one SHORT plastic rod into the center of the BLUE STAR as shown. Screw the rod HALFWAY in.
Again on a flat surface, screw two SHORT plastic rods into the PURPLE STAR as shown. Screw the rods HALFWAY in.
Finally, screw one LONG plastic rod into the center of the PINK STAR as shown. Screw the rod HALFWAY in.
Flat lay all LETTERS and STARS on the ground where you want to build your sign. It should look like this:
Start with the center letter, “H”. Use both hands to push the vertical posts of the H-Stake into the ground. Leave 1” of space between the crossbar and the ground.
Now work your way to each side of the letter “H” and install the whole bottom row to say, BIRTHDAY.
Make sure letters are the same height and are evenly spaced. You might need to work the stakes in and out of the ground to perfectly space each letter. LEAVE MAXIMUM 1/4″ SPACE BETWEEN LETTERS
Now let’s stack the TOP ROW on the BOTTOM ROW.As closely as possible, try and line up the “HAPPY” letters with the GREY GUIDELINES printed on the top of the “BIRTHDAY” letters
Connect the “H” for HAPPY to the top of the “I” and “R” in BIRTHDAY.
Connect “A” in HAPPY, to the “R” and the “T” in BIRTHDAY.
Connect the first “P” in HAPPY, to the “H” in BIRTHDAY.
Connect the second “P” in HAPPY, to the “H” and the “D” in BIRTHDAY.
Finally, connect the DARK “Y” in HAPPY, to the “A” in BIRTHDAY. Use straight stakes to connect the “Y” to the TOP of the “A” first, then do the LEFT SIDE of the “A”.
Install the BLUE STAR on the TOP of the “B” for BIRTHDAY. You may need to “twist” the star left and right to position it on top of the letter “B”.
ll the PINK STAR into the “Y” in BIRTHDAY as shown. Again, use a “twisting” motion to position the star on top of the “Y”.
Finally, install the PURPLE STAR on TOP of the “A” and “P” in HAPPY as shown. This can be a bit tricky, so take care when inching the final star into place.
